Celebrates 100 Day!!

Celebrating 100 Days

The children did many activities to celebrate 100 days in Grade 1.  To help celebrate we did  'Tic Tac Toe" activity in the Math curriculum.  The children did some of the activities on the 100 day and continued for a few days later. Here is an explanation of the following activities.  .

100 Steps-  The children went on a 100 step walk throughout the school.  Every ten steps they wrote where they were.

Write Your Name in Code-  Each letter of the alphabet had a numerical value attached to it. A=1, B=2 and so on.  The children wrote their name and wrote the corresponding number.  Using the calculator they added up the value of their name.  They could also do their friend's name.

Roll the die 100 times- The children roll the die and mark on the chart what they rolled. They continue to roll and mark until they roll 100 times.

Building with 100 Building Materials-  The children chose the building materials of their choice- Lego, Pattern Blocks or wooden solids.  They built their structure.  I took a picture of them with their structure.

Weigh Your Snack- The children brought a snack of 100 small items.  Using a balance scale and pennies they weighed how many pennies they weighed. On chart paper write their name, snack and how many pennies the snack weighs.

Patterning their name-  On a 100 grid the children wrote their name over and over, across, sweep back to the left, until they get to the end of the grid.  The student will colour code each different letter and colour accordingly.  When they finish they should see a pattern.

Fruit-Loop Necklace- The children made a Fruit Loop Necklace using Fruit Loops and yarn.  A great treat!

Writing-  Make a page for a class book of  "I could eat 100___".  You could change the writing to "If I had 100 dollars" or anything of your choice.

Crazy Sixes-  This game is from "Boxcars and One-eyed Jacks".  The children play this game in pairs.  They need two 100 grids, 1 pencil and 1 die. One child will start counting the numbers to 100 and the other person will roll the die until they roll a 6.  Once they roll a 6 they take the pencil from their partner and write on their sheet.
